Original nautical navigation light. Masthead or piling lights were used as the forward-showing light carried by a powered vessel by night or in bad visibility. In the Collision Regulations this is called a 'Masthead Light' and it has to show from dead ahead to 22.5 degrees abaft the beam on either side of the vessel.

Brass is a hard metal that holds up well in all environments and is made from a combination of copper and zinc. Brass will “patina” or turn darker over time as it is exposed to the elements, but it will not corrode and is a great option for outdoor and landscape lighting.
